Hi, my name is Fabia. I am a Lecturer in Biochemistry and Qualified Nutritional Therapist.

How I got here
My interest in nutrition and a holistic approach to health began at a young age, and was intensified when a close family member had a life-changing diagnosis. I wanted to understand how what we eat, and how we live, can be used to capture and maintain health.
I studied biochemistry as I was interested in the molecular basis for life and wellbeing; how our cells work to create living, breathing beings, and how cells and tissues interact with their environment to either support health or lead to disease. I went on to study for my PhD, researching protein structure and how structure relates to functions necessary for life.
In order to relate my detailed knowledge of the inside workings to cells back to how we function as a whole living being, and how our diet in particular plays a role in health and disease, I studied for a diploma in Naturopathic Nutrition.
My training as a scientist has given me an eye for detail, taught me to be analytical and methodical and allows me to keep in tune with the latest research.
I am currently a lecturer in Biochemistry at the University of Liverpool, and enjoy bringing the latest in research to my students.
